We all love the Kitzsteinhorn for its guaranteed snow all year round, as well as the added bonus of enabling those snow sports addicts among us to enjoy early and late season skiing too. Given that the Kitzsteinhorn is partly a glacier, it offers skiable terrain as early as October as soon as the lifts open, through to the end of the season in May. With a winter of super heavy snowfall, people have even been known to ski tour up there in July instead of opting for the usual summer hike. Why not aye?
With the newly built 3K K-onnection, access to the Kitzsteinhorn glacial ski area has become even easier. This tri-cable gondola offers ease of access from the centre of Kaprun, all the way up to what is considered the Top of Salzburg, transforming the glacier in to a ski-in ski-out area. You can hop on to a gondola in Kaprun, make a few changes, and then hey presto, you're at the top of the mountain. Covering 12km in distance, the journey climbs from a height of 768m to 3,029m above sea level - needless to say, the views from the gondola are breathtaking. Otherworldly you might say, and not a bad shout for a winter commute.
To top it all off, the new 3K K-onnection is pretty eco-friendly. Something that us snow enthusiasts love to hear!
Similar to all of the existing gondolas, ski lifts and buildings located on the Kitzsteinhorn, the new 3K K-onnection is actually powered by CO2-neutral, 100% eco-friendly electricity. Winning all round!
